As part of the Wellbeing programme, BISP recently welcomed Mr. Alan Yip, a Master Trainer and Elite Performance Coach, to lead our IGCSE students in a study skills masterclass. With an impressive background as a two-time record holder in Memory Power and a former coach of the Singapore memory team, Mr. Yip provided invaluable insights to help students maximise their academic potential.
Throughout the workshop, Mr. Yip encouraged students to reflect on key qualities such as intention, perseverance, and resilience. He highlighted the importance of setting specific, achievable goals, like daily reading targets, and to break large tasks into manageable steps. Mr. Yip also introduced practical strategies for establishing a consistent study schedule, emphasising the value of staying organised and committed to study plans. Additionally, he shared tailored approaches for different subjects, equipping students with the tools they need to succeed across the curriculum.
Understanding the pressures that come with a busy examination schedule, Mr. Yip provided students with techniques to manage stress, including regular breaks and physical activity to keep the mind sharp. The workshop concluded with memory improvement methods, such as mnemonic devices and visualisation techniques, enabling students to retain information more effectively.
This session provided valuable strategies that will support our students as they prepare for their IGCSEs, and we encourage parents to discuss these insights with their children.
For parents interested in further supporting their children in developing positive study habits and achieving academic excellence, Mr. Yip offers one-on-one elite performance coaching. For more information, please contact him at [email protected]
