BISP students recently showcased their mathematical talents on the international stage, competing in two prestigious events in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: the FOBISIA Secondary Maths Competition and SEAMO X – Southeast Asian Math Olympiad. Their dedication, problem-solving skills, and enthusiasm made a strong impression as they competed against some of the brightest young minds in the region.
FOBISIA Secondary Maths Competition
On 16 January 2025, eight BISP students travelled to Malaysia to represent the school at the FOBISIA Secondary Maths Competition held at Garden International School. After five months of intensive preparation, it was time to put their skills to the test.
Over two challenging days, students tackled a variety of mathematical rounds, including individual and team rounds, codebreaking, crossnumber, the carousel round, and the grand finale—the Dragon Maths relay. Competing against talented mathematicians from across Asia, the BISP team demonstrated impressive problem-solving skills, teamwork, and resilience.
The team featured AP, Daji, Leo, Pangpon, Taisiya, and Tara from Year 7, as well as Felix and Ting Ting from Year 8. Their outstanding efforts not only reflected their mathematical expertise but also strengthened friendships with peers from across the region.
SEAMO X – Southeast Asian Math Olympiad
On 18 January 2025, ten BISP Primary students took on another exciting challenge at SEAMO X, a prestigious Southeast Asian Math Olympiad. Competing against some of the brightest young mathematicians in the region, they embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and skill.
A special congratulations to Sand from Year 4, who achieved an incredible milestone—winning a gold medal and securing 5th place in her age group across Southeast Asia. This is a remarkable achievement, and we are incredibly proud of her dedication and hard work.
Both competitions provided valuable learning experiences, allowing students to test their mathematical abilities, develop problem-solving skills, and connect with like-minded peers.
Congratulations to all students for their hard work, perseverance, and outstanding performances. We look forward to seeing BISP continue to shine in future competitions!
