On Friday, 27th September 2024, British International School, Phuket (BISP) proudly hosted the South East Asian Maths Olympiad (SEAMO) for the first time on our campus. This exciting event brought together 82 enthusiastic students from Year 2 to Year 11, who tackled a series of challenging mathematical problems designed to stimulate their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The students embraced the opportunity to push their limits and compete for a chance to advance to the next round, SEAMO X. While many agreed that the questions were pitched at a very high level, the overall sentiment was one of accomplishment. They took pride in trying their best and, more importantly, in learning new skills and gaining valuable knowledge throughout their preparation and competition experience.

BISP students performed exceptionally well, earning a total of 38 medals:  4 gold, 12 silver, and 22 bronze. This impressive achievement reflects their dedication and hard work in mastering complex mathematical concepts. More information about the competition can be found at SEAMO Official.

We encourage all students to keep an eye out for future competitions, particularly the Kangaroo Maths Competition, which BISP is excited to host again in early 2025. We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements and look forward to their continued success in the years to come!
