British International School, Phuket is deeply saddened by the death of Mr Neill Thacker, one of our former teachers. Neill passed away in Australia this week after a short illness. The BISP community sends its sincere condolences to Neill’s family – particularly his daughters Sammy and Maddy who attended BISP and their mother Kirsten who worked in our Marketing Department.
Neill was our Head of Performing Arts from 2011 – 2014. He was a lively character, talented musician and passionate and caring teacher who was well-liked by students and staff. Under Neill’s leadership and creative direction, our auditorium came to life in school productions like Grease and The Lion King. Neill played the bugle at ANZAC Day Dawn Services and will be fondly remembered for his Elvis impersonations at school events, dressed in his glitzy 70s jumpsuit.
BISP would like to thank Neill for inspiring our students, for being the kind-hearted and dedicated teacher he was, and for bringing joy into the lives of many. He will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Neill.
