From 13th to 16th March, eight Year 6 students travelled to Hanoi, Vietnam and took part in this year’s Primary FOBISIA Maths Competition, held over two days at the British International School, Hanoi. This is the third consecutive year that BISP has participated in the competition.
Year 6 students Aliyah, Elsa, Liza, Nora, Arthur, Jenson, Rafa, and Taa, accompanied by Mr Lord and Mrs McCarthy, represented BISP in two days of challenging maths competitions. The students competed in five rounds in total: a Maths Countdown Round, two Problem-Solving Rounds, a 90-minute Individual Test, and finally, a Maths Team Race.
The students performed exceptionally well, both individually and as a team, consistently demonstrating BISP’s values of Respect, Compassion, and Integrity. A special mention goes to Jenson and Arthur, who both received a bronze medal in the individual round.
The competition was strong, with schools from across Asia taking part. Students were given opportunities to socialise with peers from other schools, with an emphasis on meeting new people and making friends. On Saturday evening, they had the chance to enjoy some of the sights and sounds of Hanoi, with one of the highlights being a traditional Vietnamese water puppet show.
