One of the Early Learning Goals for Early Years students is to develop an understanding of the world, including the lives of the people around them and their roles in society. As part of this goal, BISP’s Early Years students have been learning about the important role of police officers in keeping communities safe.
In class, the students have been taking fingerprints and learning about police equipment, and even carried out their own pretend investigation to catch a “suspicious man” by looking for clues and taking notes.
To culminate their learning, the students had a special visit from real police officers. The officers talked to the children about their role in the community and demonstrated their skills, while the students were thrilled to be able to use real police equipment. The highlight of the visit was when the students got to go inside a real police truck and turn on the sirens, making it an exciting and memorable experience for everyone involved.
