The 2023/24 academic year has been a milestone for Phuket Gymnastics Academy, attracting a diverse group of enthusiasts ranging from youngsters to adults. This growing interest is evident in our impressive enrollment of 165 students each week in Term 1. Such growth signals a rising enthusiasm for gymnastics across various age groups.
Over the past year, Phuket Gymnastics has seen substantial development, not just in terms of facilities but also in the capabilities of our young athletes. To accommodate our increasing number of students, we have installed new equipment designed to enhance both basic physical movement skills and advanced gymnastics techniques. Our classes now cater to a broader range of abilities, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive.
We are excited to introduce two new coaches who joined our team last year, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise. In August, we welcomed Coach New, who has over a decade of gymnastics experience and has been a member of the Thailand national team. In January, Coach Nid joined us as Program Director. She, too, has represented Thailand’s national team and has seven years of coaching experience. Their presence ensures that our students receive top-notch training and a fun, enriching gymnastics experience.
Our primary focus at Phuket Gymnastics remains personalising and adapting gymnastics skills to suit each learner’s individual learning style. From Nursery and Reception students to those on the competition team, our goal is to help every gymnast improve vital, lifelong physical skills. Throughout the 2023 academic year, our students have developed resilience, communication, and problem-solving skills through regular practice and the dedicated guidance of our coaches.
One of the key highlights of 2023 was the Phuket Internal Competition held on June 15th. This event was designed to create a unique sporting environment where learners could showcase their performances, respond to stress, build determination, and overcome fears. The main objective was for our gymnasts to cultivate a competitive spirit and a love for the sport.
Our competition team also had notable successes. They represented Phuket Gymnastics at the BamBi Games Invitational 2023 in Bangkok on November 25-26, where 12 gymnasts from levels 1-3 earned medals. Additionally, at the Falcon Gymnastics Invitational 2024 on March 9-10, our 16 gymnasts from levels 1-3 competed against 12 clubs. A special mention goes to Nisa, who secured 6th place in the Vault category. We also participated in the festive 2023 BISP Christmas Fair, adding to the joyous spirit of the season.
In response to the high enrollment numbers, we have scheduled additional classes to better support our diverse groups of learners. Our aim is to share the joy of gymnastics and demonstrate that it is even more fun and fulfilling than they might have imagined.
As we reflect on a year of growth and achievements, Phuket Gymnastics Academy looks forward to continuing this momentum next academic year, inspiring more students, and fostering a love for gymnastics in our community.
Our heartfelt thanks to all parents for their support this year and to all of our talented students for their hard work and training! Wishing you all an amazing vacation and cannot wait to see you all back next term!
