Last week, students in Years 7, 8 and 9 took part in the Maths department’s annual Pi Day celebrations. Pi Day is held on March 14 each year, which is 3.14 when written in the American-style, day, month format.
Activities for our Key Stage 3 students included drawing circles freehand, pi quizzes and using compasses to create circular patterns.
Several Colour Team representatives also recited pi from memory in front of the year group and this year saw some sensational pi memory performances. In Year 7, Emma recited over 150 digits whilst in Year 8 we had fantastic performances from both Ploy (156 digits) and Jessica (121 digits). Well done to all who took part!
