This academic year, BISP Key Stage 4 Upper School students experienced a whirlwind of varied learning, personal development, and global awareness.
The Year 10’s trip to Chiang Mai, inspired by artist-in-residence Lisa Ledwick, ignited creativity through immersive workshops. Back on campus, guest speaker Victor Shaburov, the mastermind behind Snapchat filters, fueled imaginations with his inspiring tale in Computer Science.
In their Global Perspectives classes students tackled real-world issues like animal welfare, palm oil, and climate change, sparking lively debates. Students also explored personal stories through mandala creations. In IGCSE World Literature, students delved into classics like “Of Mice and Men”. Mr. Dilts’ unforgettable ballroom dancing demonstration, with book in hand, brought “Master Harold… and The Boys” to life in a unique way.
BISP KS4 Students built essential skills for the future, from coding basics to teamwork honed during the VEX Robotics competition in Bangkok. Science enthusiasts put BISP on the map with the Royal Society of Biology Challenge. Additionally, the Year 10 IGCSE Drama group all achieved Distinction in their LAMDA examinations, while the dedicated Music students who tackled IGCSE and shared their talents at numerous school events. Congratulations are definitely in order!
Throughout the year, Mathematical excellence was showcased through participation in UKMT, Kangaroo Maths, and early-entry IGCSE Maths exams. Physics proved engaging with exciting practicals and Kahoot battles, while First Language Thai students continued to refine their letter-writing skills. Student presentations across all subjects showcased unique passions, further igniting inspiration across classrooms.
The new format of the BISP ‘Wellbeing Day’ in Secondary school proved a resounding success, with project-based learning tasks like the Digital Safety Music Video, the Mental Health Wellbeing Fair, and the BISP Eco Proposal Project—bringing both KS4 year groups together in a shared purpose. KS4 students also welcomed back Mr. Alan Yip, who shared his expertise on exam preparation and wellbeing. Students even had the chance to attend a unique workshop on snake safety, ensuring well rounded learning and development.
These are just a few of the many fantastic experiences that helped the BISP Year 10 and Year 11 students bond and foster a strong sense of community. The recent Year 11 formal dinner marked a cherished milestone, capping off an unforgettable year of growth and achievement. We look forward to what the next academic year will bring.
