Introduction
The British International School, Phuket Tennis Academy is home to an inclusive community of tennis enthusiasts from grassroots level to high performance. Led by a team of experienced professionals on outstanding indoor and outdoor facilities, the Tennis Academy is a hub for all things tennis on Phuket. Our members enjoy a communal, fun tennis environment, with tournaments throughout the year, with BISP students benefiting from the social and performance benefits of an on-site tennis centre.
Outstanding facilities on the BISP campus
The BISP Tennis Academy features six floodlit hard-courts, three indoor and three outdoor, as well as designated space for conditioning and fitness. The adjacent tennis office is used for tennis seminars to ensure continuous learning in all weather conditions. The Tennis Academy is stocked with equipment for tennis players of all levels, split by age category and ability, ensuring continuous, tailored learning all year round.
Qualified professional coaching
Our team of qualified, professional coaches is equipped with the knowledge of how to teach tennis from beginner to high level. Each coach plays the sport to a high standard and so teaches based on a personal experience and understanding of the game. The team undertakes ongoing coaching qualifications to ensure each member is up to date with the continually evolving tennis world and that they are equipped to manage the extensive safety and content responsibilities of coaching in a high-performance academy.

Gill oversees all tennis activities and operations including coaching, social and competitive opportunities for players. He has 25 years of experience and sees Tennis as a “language of its own”. His aim is to develop players “Technical and Tactical ability and teach them what is required on and off the court. He finally believes that although you have to work hard to improve, it can still be fun.

His experience and certification helps in psychology, biomechanics and training methodology. I am a passionate & experienced coach who believes that any ability player can improve. I work with all level players, have the patience required to work with beginners & the experience to work with performance players.

Progressive Tennis Programmes
The BISP Tennis Academy delivers programmes from the grassroots, all the way to high performance. This enables students to choose pathways in the game tailored to their interests, with pathways catering to both the social and the high-performance aspects of the sport.
Community Hub
The extensive space of the BISP Tennis Academy allows for events such as tournaments, bbqs and social gatherings, with ample parking available. This helps create a club atmosphere at the Academy, where parents can collaborate with the coaches who teach their children, together creating a thriving tennis culture on Phuket.

Stringing Service On-site
A convenient stringing service is available on-site, offered at low cost, and delivered by qualified stringers. This service can be performed in under 20 minutes, and is a particularly useful asset to those players who need their racquets restrung ahead of imminent tournaments.
International Tennis Camps
Each year, the BISP Tennis Academy arranges training trips to the Nike tennis camp in the UK. These trips enable students to meet and compete against international players on a range of court types, and to visit Wimbledon and work with a network of coaches. These trips are an inspirational benchmarking exercise and are excellent for team building.
Graduate Opportunities
The BISP Tennis Academy works closely with BISP’s University Counselling team to identify suitable graduate pathways to Academy players. This collaborative service is tailor-made and dedicated to finding the best pathway for each individual student.
