On Friday, September 27th, a group of IGCSE Art and Design students visited the TIKDOR exhibition at the Phuket Contemporary Gallery in Phuket Town.

The theme of the exhibition was interesting in that a wide range of Thai artists were invited to come to Phuket, tour the island on day one, and produce artwork based on their impressions of the island over the next two days, all in time for the opening on day four. Demi Huang said that one artist finished their work at 3 AM on the 21st of September, just in time for the opening festivities.

The exhibition space was laid out in an interesting format to illustrate the different cultural and geographic regions using coloured rooms. The students all found artwork that related to their emerging themes and drew in their sketchbooks in response to the art on display.

This visit to the TIKDOR exhibition gave our IGCSE Art and Design students a valuable opportunity to connect their learning with real-world artistic expression. By engaging with the works on display and reflecting on their themes through sketchbook exercises, students deepened their understanding of both the artistic process and their own projects. Experiences like these highlight the hands-on, exploratory nature of IGCSE subjects at BISP, reinforcing the importance of connecting classroom learning with authentic creative opportunities.
