This term, the Primary Thai Department at BISP organised a wonderful series of educational trips, offering students across Year 3 to Year 6 the chance to deepen their understanding of Thai culture, local history, and community life. Each visit was thoughtfully planned to support classroom learning while providing students with meaningful real-world experiences.

Year 6 Visit to Old Phuket Farm

Year 6 students explored traditional ways of life at Old Phuket Farm. They took part in hands-on activities such as rubber tapping, rice farming, pineapple planting, and tin mining—gaining a deeper appreciation for the island’s agricultural and industrial heritage. Students also enjoyed local snacks like fresh Phuket pineapple, sticky rice with custard, and butterfly pea flower juice. It was a memorable day filled with learning and laughter.

Year 5 Trip to Phuket Peranakan Museum

Year 5 students visited the Phuket Peranakan Museum in Thalang District, where they had the chance to make Ang Ku (Red Turtle Cake) and explore artefacts from Peranakan culture. From tin mining and goldwork to traditional architecture and festivals, the visit gave students a broader understanding of Phuket’s rich cultural blend. Many left the museum eager to return with their families.

Year 4 Exploration of Chalong Temple

The Year 4 trip to Chalong Temple offered students an immersive experience in Thai Buddhism and culture. They visited the temple’s wax museum, admired intricate mural paintings, and learned about the significance of the Praprang, where a relic of the Buddha is enshrined. The trip helped nurture a deeper respect for Thai heritage and fostered a greater sense of connection to the local community.

Year 3 Journey to Phuket Mining Museum

Year 3 students travelled to the Phuket Mining Museum, where they explored the history of tin mining and the lives of Chinese immigrants in the region. With guidance from Thai staff and class teachers, the children learned about one of the key industries that shaped Phuket’s past and saw first-hand how the island’s cultural landscape developed over time.

A heartfelt thank you to the Primary Thai Department for organising these enriching experiences. Each trip has not only supported classroom learning but also helped students strengthen their connection to Thai history, culture, and values in an engaging and memorable way.
