The past year in the Early Years at BISP has been marked by fantastic success, characterised by a dedicated emphasis on language and communication, literacy (phonics) and high levels of student engagement. With a concerted effort to foster these foundational skills, significant strides have been made in nurturing the holistic development of our youngest learners.
Language and communication have been at the forefront of our initiatives, with a range of interactive activities designed to enhance verbal expression, listening skills, and social interaction. Through storytelling, role-playing, and group discussions, children have not only expanded their vocabulary but have also developed the confidence to express themselves effectively.
Early Years literacy skills have been cultivated through purposeful and fun activities while being able to follow children’s interests. Immersive experiences with books, both independently and in group settings, have instilled a love for reading while also honing essential literacy skills. Fun and exciting writing exercises, mark making along with phonics instruction, have provided children with the necessary skills to begin to see themselves as independent readers and writers.
Fostering a high level of student engagement, independence and self-confidence has been a cornerstone of our Early Years, with an array of hands-on activities designed to captivate young minds and foster curiosity. From sensory exploration, exciting provocations, explorations and collaborative projects, children have been actively involved in their learning journey, creating a sense of ownership and enthusiasm for discovery and learning.
As a result of these efforts, the past year has witnessed exciting progress in the development of language proficiency, literacy skills, and overall engagement among our Early Years learners at BISP. By prioritising these fundamental pillars of education, we have laid a strong foundation for their future academic success and lifelong learning journey.
