On May 18th, the British International School, Phuket (BISP) held a truly memorable event – the Year 13 High-School Graduation. This special occasion marked a significant milestone as we bid farewell to the graduating Class of 2024. Comprised of 61 remarkable young individuals representing an impressive 27 nationalities, these students have enriched our classrooms and hallways with their diverse perspectives and experiences. This year’s BISP cohort embodies the vibrant international spirit of our school community.

The afternoon began with a procession of the graduates, each student beaming with pride and anticipation. The sight of our 61 graduates, dressed in their caps and gowns, was a powerful reminder of the collective journey they have undertaken. From their first day at BISP to this momentous occasion, these students have grown, learned, and flourished into individuals ready to be leaders for tomorrow.

The ceremony featured inspiring speeches from our Headmaster Mr Simon Meredith, our keynote speaker,  Mr Victor Shabourov, esteemed faculty members, and selected student representatives. Their words echoed themes of resilience, perseverance, and the importance of embracing the diverse experiences that have shaped their time at BISP.

As we bid farewell to the Class of 2024, we are filled with a sense of pride and optimism. These graduates are not just leaving BISP with academic knowledge but also with a global mindset and a compassionate heart. They are well-prepared to make meaningful contributions to the world and to continue learning and growing in their future endeavours.

As these graduates embark on the next exciting chapter of their lives, it’s inspiring to see the breadth of their aspirations. Applications for universities span the globe, reflecting ambition and determination. The United Kingdom received the most applications, followed by the USA, Thailand, and Australia. Canada, Singapore, Netherlands, Hong Kong, and Spain are also popular destinations, highlighting the diverse range of institutions our students are targeting. Other destinations include Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, UAE, Guyana, Finland, Sweden, South Korea and Japan. We are also proud to acknowledge 2 students who’ve secured full-tuition offers to universities in Hong Kong, pending their IB results.

This pursuit of excellence extends beyond academics. Many students have received scholarship offers, particularly from US universities. These merit and sports scholarships recognise not only academic achievement but also athletic talent and commitment. 

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the parents, guardians, teachers, and staff who have supported and guided these students throughout their journey. Your dedication and commitment have been instrumental in shaping these young minds.

To the Class of 2024, while this may be a farewell, it is certainly not a goodbye. You will always be a part of the BISP family. As you embark on your new adventures, remember the values instilled in you and the friendships you’ve forged. We look forward to hearing about your future successes and welcoming you back as alumni who continue to inspire and lead.
