Today is World Mental Health Day, and we’re focusing on mental health in a big way. From October 7–11, we’ve been sharing valuable resources, including a resource letter and slides to help guide conversations with students. These materials have been made available to our community through both the Secondary Campus Currents and the Primary/Secondary Parent E-Briefs.
Highlights of the week:
- October 8: We shared an informative workshop on mental health, covering how to recognise stigma and ways to integrate mental health conversations into family life. We were fortunate to have Wilton Atkins, Director of the Mental Skills Institute, and Milla Budiarto, Founder and Director of Safe Space Phuket, alongside our school counsellors, Amy Pothong and Thomas Bell, who shared their expertise and experiences regarding mental health in schools and the wider community.
- October 10 and 11: We’re incorporating activities to raise awareness and emphasise the importance of mental health in our everyday lives. Both teachers and students are actively involved in this process, with a strong focus on promoting student agency in caring for their well-being.
Next week, our social media channels will be dedicated to Mental Health Awareness, so stay tuned for valuable information, resources, and tips to help continue the conversation around mental well-being. We encourage you to follow along and engage with the content we’ll be sharing!
While mental health is something we focus on every day, this week gives us the opportunity to be even more intentional with our efforts. Thank you for your continued support in making mental health a priority for our students and community!
