We recently held a vibrant parent invite to Learn Together with their child in our Early Years classrooms. The event brought together parents and children for a morning filled with exploration, learning, and connection.
From the moment families arrived, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. Parents were invited to join their children in various hands-on activities designed to highlight our curriculum and the importance of play-based learning. Together, they engaged in various activities and continuous provision areas in the learning environments. It was heartwarming to see parents and children collaborating, sharing ideas and sparking joy in the learning process.
Before playing, Reception parents observed a short Phonics lesson so they could see first hand how children learn Phonics in the classroom. Parents were delighted to see children so engaged in their learning and, after the session, felt better equipped to support children with learning Phonics at home. – Laura Smith, Reception Team Leader
Parents were encouraged to engage with their child, exploring and following their interests while allowing them to witness firsthand how learning unfolds in our Early Years setting. This not only fostered a deeper understanding of our educational approach but also strengthened the parent-child bond as they explored various learning areas and celebrated achievements together. Feedback from parents was overwhelmingly positive.
In Nursery, parents had the opportunity to observe a short group session where the children proudly showcased their Makaton signing skills. They also demonstrated their growing ability to follow daily routines and respond to teacher instructions, highlighting the progress they’ve made in developing communication and social skills. – Neil Griffith, Nursery Class Teacher and Team Leader
Overall, the parent session was a beautiful reminder of the power of collaboration and community in education, strengthening strong and supportive relationships. Thank you to everyone who participated in making this day a success
