British International School Phuket (BISP) recently celebrated its 27th anniversary of the school’s founding. On Friday, August 11th, 2023, staff members gathered together on campus for the event which was a time for both reflection and celebration. Founded by Thai educators Mr. Prasit Ourairat and Dr. Arthit Ourairat, this world-class institution has come a long way since its inception in 1996. It all began with a vision to create a high-quality international day and boarding school on the picturesque island of Phuket. Today we are proud to be part of the Arthit Ourairat Institution along with SBS Bangkok and SIBS Chiangmai.

The day’s festivities commenced with a series of ceremonies, including a Brahma Ceremony, Islamic religious ceremony, and a Buddhist Ceremony, reflecting the diverse cultural influences at BISP. These events were followed by a heartwarming act of generosity, where alms and merit-making were offered to nine monks. Thereafter staff enjoyed sharing memories and cheerful moments as well as a variety of food and drinks.

From its humble beginnings with just 59 students, it has grown into a vibrant community of over 1000 day and boarding students representing over 60 different nationalities. The school’s commitment to excellence in education has seen it not only focused on academic excellence but has also fostered holistic growth through scholarships and a strong emphasis on arts and sports. Today, BISP stands as a renowned international school and a premier sports competition venue in the region.

The 27th year of BISP marks the beginning of a new academic year, and we look forward to not just marking another year but continuing to strive for a legacy of excellence, diversity, and education that shapes the future of our students and the international education landscape.
