Book Week was a fantastic celebration across both Primary and Secondary, featuring a range of engaging activities that encouraged students to explore the joy of reading. From creative competitions to guest readers and a visit from a renowned author, the week highlighted the importance of books and storytelling throughout the school.

In Primary, the Extreme Reading Competition was a highlight, with over 100 creative photographs submitted. Congratulations to our three winners: Flynn (5SH), Andrei (4SD), and Henry (1NB).

Students also took part in the annual Bookmark Competition, designing bookmarks around the theme “Reading Takes You Anywhere.” The winning design from each year group will be published and shared with fellow students, with winners to be announced soon.

On World Book Day, guest readers visited Primary classrooms, sharing stories and inspiring young minds. Students and staff dressed as their favourite book characters, bringing beloved stories to life. In Nursery, children were treated to a retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk performed by their teachers, creating an engaging storytelling experience.

The celebration of reading continued the following week with a visit from renowned author and illustrator Martin Chatterton. Students in Years 3 to 6 attended interactive sessions in the Primary Library, where he shared insights into his work as both a writer and an artist. Some students and teachers also had their own portraits drawn by Martin, adding an extra element of excitement to the experience.

Book Week provided a valuable opportunity to celebrate reading and creativity across the school. Thank you to all students, staff, and special guests who contributed to making it a memorable event.
