Imagine a gender equal world.
A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.
A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.
A world where difference is valued and celebrated.
Together we can forge women’s equality.
Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias
On March 8th 2022, BISP students joined individuals and organisations around the world as they celebrated International Women’s Day with this year’s global theme being #BreakTheBias
Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to move ahead. Knowing that bias exists isn’t enough, action is needed to level the playing field.
Across the school students will had the opportunity to learn about pioneering women in history who have broken the norms of their time. The day marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality and is a day dedicated to celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
BISP Primary students engaged in a variety of activities that taught them about pioneering women in history as well as engaged in activities where the students were encouraged to think of an ‘inspirational woman’ in their own lives. BISP secondary students took part in an International Women’s Day Student Online Workshop with UWC Thailand. The workshop was hosted for any students over 14 who wanted to have the opportunity to discuss stereotypes, prejudice and bias.
Through the day students were challenged to find ways to actively identify and call out gender bias, discrimination and stereotyping each time they see it in order to support women’s rights.
