Sixteen BISP swimmers have returned from the Southern Thai National Qualifying swim meet at the Krabi National Sports Centre, their first regional swim meet in over 18 months.
Well done to Jay, Marija, Lucy, Armaan, Zac, Chuan, Jaidee, Daniel, Lev, Kim, Wei, Zheng, Taylor, Nara, Marius and Anton for training so hard in the lead up to this event and representing the school so well.
After three days of competition, a total of 30 personal best times were recorded across the team and 13 swimmers qualified for this month’s national championships in Bangkok. BISP had swimmers in all five age categories, from 10-11 Years to Over 18.
BISP Swim Academy Head Coach, Colin Braund, commented: “It was great to eventually get a swim meet under our belt after such a long hiatus. Both squads performed well with the main focus on qualifying for the Thailand National Championships at the end of the month. With this achieved, we can now get in some quality work in preparation for this meet with the main goal for our younger swimmers to gain experience at the national level.
“Coach Charlie and I were very impressed with the way all our swimmers overcame our erratic training schedule due to the lockdown periods we have endured over the last couple of months,” Coach Colin said.
