During the recent Soccer 7s, the Art for Service after-school activity at BISP made a significant impact by raising awareness and funds for local animal welfare organisations. The handmade cards created by the students were a hit and sold out, generating 9,550 Baht in support of the Rawai Animal Lovers (RAL) shelter on Phuket.
According to Simone Allene from RAL, these funds played a crucial role in covering medical expenses for animals like Spirit (a cat with flu and a fungal infection), Sabre (now neutered and vaccinated), and Asra, who is battling FeLV and kidney disease.
The Art for Service club expresses gratitude to the BISP community for their immense support. More handmade cards will be available at the Christmas Faire on December 14th, with proceeds going toward local animal welfare organisations.
In another noteworthy contribution, three BISP IB students, accompanied by a parent and led by Mrs. Coulson, utilised the remaining funds from last year’s Art for Service fundraising efforts (totaling 22,150.50 Baht) to purchase food and dog treats for the Phuket Stray Dog Shelter.
During their visit, these BISP ambassadors actively engaged in the well-being of the shelter’s 900-plus dogs, assisting regular volunteers by taking a portion of the 140 dogs for a short walk. This initial visit aims to encourage ongoing student involvement at the Phuket Stray Dog Shelter, which always welcomes food donations and additional support to ensure the animals’ well-being.
The collaboration between BISP students and the Phuket Stray Dog Shelter is anticipated to foster sustained engagement and positive contributions, reflecting the ongoing commitment of the BISP community to animal welfare.
