On 6 December 2024, BISP held its first-ever Prom and Charity Ball at the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Chao Fah. The Events and Service Committee 2024 made history by blending elegance with purpose, creating an unforgettable night. What started as a vision became a large-scale event, featuring shimmering decorations, various activities, an international and Thai buffet, speeches, and live music performances.

The mesmerising, carefully curated “Starry Night” themed setup symbolised the countless hours the team spent decorating the venue on the day and the day prior. From arranging white roses and fairy lights to carefully laying out golden stars and event brochures, the Decorations and Marketing Division of the committee spent hours in the stifling heat to transform the venue into a ballroom full of stars. Despite the mishaps in organising decorations, through collaboration, we made our vision come to life.

One of the most popular activities of the night was the photo booth. With a queue stretching across the room, many were eager for an opportunity to stand in front of the camera, dazzled in props. At the end of the night, they went home with a trinket capturing the essence of this magical evening.

Numerous speeches, live music performances, and raffle prizes were staggered throughout the event, illuminating the night with vibrancy. After the doors opened and attendees headed inside, the 2024 Prom and Charity Ball was officially kickstarted with an opening speech.

Throughout the event, whilst many enjoyed the never-ending buffet featuring both Thai and international cuisine, talented musicians delivered impeccable singing and piano performances. Meanwhile, students experienced the thrill of seeing their names appear on a spinner, waiting in anticipation to be selected as one of the lucky prize winners. To finish the night off strong, Mr Pearson, the Secondary Principal, delivered a memorable speech.

Beyond the glamour, the event had a meaningful impact—funds raised during the night, paired with donations from the Halloween Disco, were dedicated to SOS Village, Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation, and Phuket Sunshine Village.

In the spirit of giving, suitable gifts and essential items such as clothes and toddler essentials were arranged to bring smiles to their faces. With careful communication between the committee and the organisations, over 300 presents tailored to the preferences of the recipients were organised by the Head of Events and Service.

Additionally, to give BISP students, especially IB CAS students and student attendees, an opportunity to engage in service learning and contribute beyond financial means, the team delivered cards prepared by the Donations Coordinator for students to decorate. Cumulatively, we created over 150 celebratory cards throughout November and December.

Seeing everyone dressed up, enjoying the night, and contributing to a cause was a reminder that celebrations can be both memorable and meaningful. This event was just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see how it grows in the years to come.

Lastly, my gratitude goes out to everyone who made this event possible—the Events and Service Committee, the Senior Leadership Team, the Music and Art Department, the BDE Department, the staff at the Ramada Plaza, the Student Leadership Team, and, most importantly, every single attendee. Thank you for making a night full of stars a reality.
