Just before the start of the school year, on August 14th, 2024, 24 BISP coaches and swim staff successfully completed an Emergency First Response  (EFR) and Rescue Lifeguard certification in association with PADI, earning certification valid for the next two years. This essential training ensures that BISP staff are well-prepared to respond swiftly and effectively in emergency situations, reflecting BISP’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety for our students and the community.

The EFR course, supervised and run by PADI Course Director Thien X. Do, is designed to provide comprehensive training in emergency care, covering a range of crucial skills, including CPR, AED usage, oxygen provision and first aid procedures. This certification is particularly important for those working in sports and aquatic environments, where the ability to react quickly can make a significant difference in critical situations.

In addition to the EFR course, 11 members of the BISP swim staff, completed their Rescue Lifeguard Water Skills Competency certification, bringing the entire swim team up to date with their pool rescue lifeguard qualifications for the next two years. This certification is a testament to the rigorous safety standards upheld by the BISP Swim Academy.

The successful completion of the course underscores the dedication of BISP staff to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all students. Looking ahead, the school plans to continuously make such training available to staff in order to further enhance the safety and preparedness of the BISP community.
