In an era where technology and art are increasingly intertwined, artists are discovering innovative ways to express themselves and connect with their audiences. We were fortunate to welcome back Jah Flame, Nathanon Khanijow, to BISP. Nathanon, a BISP alumni, and multi-talented creative, returned to BISP as our Artist in Residence, sharing his expertise in animation and the world of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) with our Year 12 and Year 13 students.

The workshops spanned over three days, during which Nathanon worked with the two student groups separately. Nathanon encouraged students to select the themes for their animations, resulting in a diverse collection of animated projects, each reflecting the unique interests and perspectives of the students. The workshop was designed to cover different aspects of animation, with a focus on animation basics during the first day, and a deep dive into advanced techniques during the second day. Under Nathanon’s expert guidance, students honed their animation skills, exploring key concepts such as frame-by-frame animation, timing, and storytelling.

To bring their creative ideas to life, students used Procreate’s animation tools. They learned how to create and manipulate keyframes, adjust timing, and incorporate audio elements to enhance their projects. Throughout the process, Nathanon provided personalised guidance and feedback, fostering an environment of exploration and growth. During the workshop, Nathanon also shed light on the potential benefits of NFTs for emerging artists. He explained that NFTs offer artists a unique way to gain recognition and income from their creations while maintaining control over their work. This aspect of the workshop provided a distinctive perspective on the intersection of art, technology, and economics.
