The Mathematics department recently completed its annual Times Tables Rock Stars challenge. In this competition Year 7 and Year 8 students competed to see who could complete the most times tables calculations in one minute.

The fastest correct in one minute was Mark in Y8 who averaged an incredible 91 correct answers.  The most coins earned was Sirach – also in Y8 who gained over 20,000 coins. 

In either paper form or online, Times Tables Rock Stars is a carefully sequenced programme of daily times tables practice. Each week concentrates on a different times table, with a recommended consolidation week for rehearsing the tables that have recently been practised every third week. This format has very successfully boosted times tables recall speed for hundreds of thousands of pupils over the last 8 years in over 16,000 schools – both primary and secondary – worldwide.
