In April, 26 children from Year 5 and Year 6 took part in the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) Junior Challenge. Although aimed at Year 8 children, BISP Primary put forward a number of children to take the Junior Challenge to gain important experience for future years. The 60-minute Junior Challenge, which is open to students in the UK and around the world, consists of multiple-choice questions that encourage mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.
To recognise the highest performers, UKMT awards the top 40% of participants with either Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates. Participating in this Challenge as a Year 5 or 6 student is a success in itself so we are very pleased to announce that the following children achieved even greater success.
Ethan, Year 6 – Silver
Ilya, Year 6 – Bronze
Alex, Year 6 – Bronze
Sirach, Year 6 – Bronze
Congratulations to all the children who took part and we wish you continued success in future UKMT Challenges.
