Last week British International School, Phuket marked Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week in Wellbeing lessons by shining the spotlight on some key issues impacting children’s mental health.
Our Year 8 students were involved in group sessions focussing on online behaviour and how to interact safely and respectfully. The students had discussions about the harmful effects of cyberbullying and how it can be stopped or avoided, and were encouraged to stand up to this sort of behaviour, always being inclusive to others.
To complement the session, our Year 8 students then attended a short assembly led by Mr Phillips and Mrs Duncan around the school’s values – Respect, Compassion and Integrity – and the standards that we believe are at the heart of a flourishing school. The students were asked to consider ways they can manage conflict restoratively and discussed strategies for addressing friendship issues.
