Fourteen students from across the Primary and Secondary School sat their Rockschool examinations last week, performing on the drums, guitar and vocals.
The students were required to play three pieces of music set by the Rockschool examiners, which were filmed live by our media team this year due to Covid-19 travel restrictions. Normally an examiner from Rockschool would assess the students on-site.
The students also had to perform some technical exercises. For the guitar exam, this included scales, chords and riffs. Our drummers had to show stick control and play grooves and fills. Vocalists needed to sing scales, intervals and rhythmic exercises. All the footage has now been sent to the UK to be assessed and the students will receive a graded certificate in the new year.
At BISP we encourage students who take private music lessons to take the progressive examinations offered by Rockschool and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). We have been offering these exams at BISP for over 10 years. Our students will sit the ABRSM examinations in December and January.
